What it has is one well-run production brewery with a genuine gathering space — Primal Brewery's Belmont location, a ten-barrel brewhouse operating since 2020, with a taproom, a beer garden, and pizza made on site — plus a downtown taphouse whose draft list covers whatever the brewery does not.
That combination turns out to be enough. The beer garden functions as the town's informal back porch: dogs, strollers, trivia, a food truck when the pizza line is long, and a crowd that skews local rather than destination.
If you want a proper crawl, drive. Gaston County's brewery scene has grown steadily in Gastonia, Cramerton, Mount Holly, and Belmont's neighbors, and Charlotte's NoDa and South End districts are a half hour away — with the practical caveat that a designated driver or a rideshare is not optional in a car-dependent county.
